Celebrity Cruises, Oceania Cruises and Viking Ocean Cruises took top spots in the 2018 Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards that were announced Tuesday.
For the best overall cruise experience, Celebrity Equinox won in the large ship category. It launched in 2009 and carries 2,850 passengers and crew members.
Oceania’s Riviera won in the mid-sized category, Viking Sea won in the small to mid-sized category, and Silversea’s Silver Galapagos, which carries just 100 passengers, won in the best small ship category.
Ranked by size (large being ships that carry 2,000-plus passengers), best cabins went to Royal Caribbean International’s Harmony of the Seas, the Riviera, Viking Sea and Star Pride from Windstar Cruises.
Best dining experiences on board also went to the top three overall cruise award winners and adds National Geographic Explorer from Lindblad Expeditions in the small-ship category.
Which ships represent the best value for the money? Cruisers’ Choice Awards went to Celebrity Silhouette, Celestyal Crystal, Viking Sea and Silver Galapagos, ranked by their respective sizes.
Carnival Breeze was selected as the best cruise ship for families, and the Viking Sea as the best ship for first-timers.
For those who love entertainment, Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas received the top award followed by Disney Wonder, Viking Sky and L’Austral by Ponant.
Last year, Disney Dream was selected as the best overall large cruise ship, and Disney Magic earned the same award in the mid-sized category.
