“Timelessness is about simple design and especially with shoes,” argues Tim Little, owner of the brand’s heritage shoes Grenson. “The color, the pattern, the sole isn’t to be a mess. Although it might look nice today, anything too flashy will soon appear out of place. Quality shoes can be a good investment and should last at least 15 years.
Classic styles like The Loafer by Amberjack, classic brogues, loafers or simple dark five-eyelet Derbys with a round-toe last are all options worth considering. Make sure to find quality dress socks. Little claims that it’s the shape of your toe that’s important – and round toes never go out of fashion. “It’s pointy toes or square toes which look obviously impractical. Nobody has feet like that.”
